Secrets Protected Within"the Circle"

    In Vedic Astrology, the Zodiac signs are based on the position of the stars rather than the Seasons on Earth. This results in a 23-degree difference between the typical Western Tropical Zodiac and the Vedic Sidereal Zodiac. The Moon Sign is also seen as the Zodiac sign vs. the Sun in Western Tropical. While the Sun still holds great importance in representing the soul’s desire or the ego of an individual. The Moon is representing the true nature of a person and the way their mind works. The Ascendant represents the personality, physical body, appearance, and life foundation. 

    Anytime that the Sun, Moon, or Ascendant is placed in a Zodiac sign, it holds great importance. The Moon is always the most important. Then the Ascendant. Lastly, the Sun will also make an impact. Primarily, the behavior and appearance of a person are based on the Moon and Ascendant. While the Sun can show what a person feels inspired about, where they shine, and what career path that they feel drawn towards.

    In Vedic Astrology, we also consider Fixed Stars. This is something that relates more to the Moon’s influence than the Sun. Since they can’t be seen from the Western Tropical view. However, this opens up the door to the 27 Nakshatras or Lunar Mansions. Each Zodiac Sign is distributed through 3 to 2.5 Nakshatras. This further distinguishes the Zodiac Signs into three different personality types. Therefore, even a person born under the same Zodiac Sign as someone else can behave differently.

I have Ketu in Shatabhishak. So, it's definitely relatable for me. 

    This is a special blog post because it's the first one that I've done on a Nakshatra that's ruled by Rahu. Not only this, Shatabhisha is positioned in the sign of Aquarius. Aquarius is a Zodiac Sign that's Co-Ruled by Rahu. So, there is a double Rahu influence found in this Nakshatra. Or some refer to it as the height of Rahu's influence because this is the last Nakshatra that's ruled by Rahu. Rahu is unique because it's a shadow planet. Rahu (North Node) Eclipses the Sun

    

    Shatabhisha is positioned from 6°40'- 20° Aquarius. Its name means "the Hundred Physicians", "the Hundred Medicines", "the Hundred Poisons", or "the Hundred Stars". The Star Name is the Veiling Star. Shatabhisha is represented by an empty circle, hundred flowers, or stars. It's ruled by Rahu and by Saturn and Rahu as the co-rulers of Aquarius. Shatabhisha is also ruled by the deity of Varuna. 

    The name "the Hundred Physicians" or "the Hundred Medicines" relates to the power that's found within Shatabhisha. That is the power to heal. Shatabhisha is found entirely within the sign of Aquarius. Aquarius is "the Water Bearer". If we look at the symbol of Aquarius, we can see a man pouring water out of a pitcher. This water flows out uncontrollably to spread out to the entire village. The symbol represents the shattering of the ego. As the pitcher wasn't strong enough to control the direction that the water could flow. Instead, it was broken, allowing the water to flow where it needed to go. In the same way, Aquarius is a highly karmic sign. It is the sign that's responsible for vanquishing the ego of man through unconditional service to humanity. Making it the humanitarian or the one who sacrifices themselves for the good of the collective. So, already we can see that the sign of Aquarius is geared toward helping and healing. Thus, many who are born under Shatabhisha make excellent doctors, psychologists, pharmacists, scientists, metaphysical healers, or work well in any profession that involves healing.

    Another name used for Shatabhisha is "the Hundred Poisons". This refers to a darker side that can be found within this Nakshatra. Shatabhisha can be inclined towards drugs, alcohol, or any other addictions. There tend to be feelings of loneliness, isolation, and depression found within this Nakshatra. That's because it falls entirely within the sign of Aquarius. Aquarius is the most eccentric and mysterious of all of the signs. Making it difficult for these individuals to fit in with others or to follow the norms of society. They are unique individuals and original in their thoughts/interests. Making them difficult to identify or understand at times. So, Shatabhisha is prone to self-isolation and becoming a reclose. This can make their feeling of disconnect even worse. Leading to behaviors that are deadly to the human body. However, it can also be the other way around. Shatabhisha individuals might find themselves dealing with people struggling with addiction and mental disorders. So, there can be a career path related to this. Where they are excellent at solving problems that others misunderstand and they can be excellent at giving profound advice to those in need. 

    The last name associated with Shatabhisha is "the Hundred Stars". This is also said to be the Nakshatra of the stargazers. So, there can be an interest in learning about astronomy and the heavens above. If it's not astronomy, then they might take a more metaphysical approach by learning about astrology. The reason for this relates to their feeling of being detached and misunderstood. Shatabhisha wants to know about deeper subjects to understand themselves and the meaning of life in general. They are deeply intelligent and full of philosophical wisdom. Along with this, they can be extremely intuitive and can understand knowledge in a way that can't be explained at a mundane level. These are the geniuses and visionaries of the zodiac. So, here we can find an interest in understanding on a scientific level paired with an interest in learning on a metaphysical level. That is because Rahu rules the eccentric things in life and Saturn rules the rational. So, there is a mix of both found in Shatabhisha. These individuals are gifted with technology and understand how gadgets function. Along with thinking in a futurist and revolutionary way. Although they can appear to be absent-minded and deeply meditative at times. Making you wonder if they truly understand. Don't let this fool you. Shatabhisha tends to be extremely talented and above average in their thinking. However, this also isn't an ego-boost for them either. Shatabhisha can be arrogant at times in thinking that they have all of the answers or that they are above others because of their intellectual capabilities.

Empty Circle

    

    The symbol of the Empty Circle also relates back to their reclusive tendencies. In ancient times and across many cultures, drawing out an empty circle was seen as a symbol of protection. Some cultures still use a circle of salt or other products as a way of protecting people or a sacred location. So, this symbol has to do with Shatabhisha feeling lonely and misunderstood by the world. Keeping them in their own protective bubble of isolation. This also relates to the star name of the Veiling Star. To veil is a covering or illusion to keep something hidden. Those born under this Nakshatra are often introverted or secretive in some way. Making them very unpredictable or difficult for others to label at times. The empty circle can also relate to metaphysical and sacred practices. They can enjoy meditation and other spiritual disciplines. Shatabhisha individuals tend to be drawn to otherworldly or magical subjects. As the empty circle can be seen as a portal to other realities and unknown knowledge found within the cosmos. This can lead to shamanism or other spiritual paths. So, the empty circle can literally represent a secret or sacred group that they are a part of. This might be a group where they feel protected or understood by others. However, there can also be a tendency to lose their identity within the group. Depending upon the planetary positions in a natal chart, a person might be trapped within a manipulating or dangerous group. It could also be that an individual born under Shatabhisha is a cult leader or seeks to manipulate a group to their liking. This is something to be cautious of if you have this placement or if someone you know has it. These are hardworking individuals who play their roles within society. No matter how strange or creepy that role might be. They can also have great skills in organizing within group settings thanks to Saturn's influence. 

    Varuna is the ruling deity of Shatabisha. She is the demi-goddess of the oceans and the celestial waters. This again relates to the healing abilities found within this Nakshatra. The oceans are a symbol of cleansing and rejuvenation. These are people who are gifted with helping others no matter how complex the situation might be. Shatabhisha individuals might even work in careers related to water or healing with water. The celestial waters also talk about the desire to find answers beyond this world. Once again, these individuals are usually drawn to the unusual and unexplained topics of life.
