15th Century Depiction of Libra |
So, I thought I would get into the Swati Nakshatra today. Swati is found in the heart of Sidereal Libra from 6°40'- 20°. Its name means "Independent" and it's referred to as the Self-Going Star. This star constellation is also referred to as Arcturus. So, you might have Arcturian Star Seed connections if you have prominent placements in this constellation. If you follow Tropical Astrology, you will most likely find this in Tropical Scorpio. Swati is symbolized by a young plant that has to grow under the pressure of harsh winds and by red coral that rises from the depths of the ocean floor. This is a very windy Nakshatra because the ruling deity is Vayu (the wind god). Also, Swati is influenced by the windy planet of Rahu. Another deity associated with Swati is Saraswati. Saraswati is the deity of knowledge, learning, music, art, speech, literature, and wisdom. Swati is also influenced by Venus because it's in the sign of Libra. The animal or sexual type for Swati is a male buffalo or a male ox. On the male buffalo, we can see that the horns are positioned like a balance scale. This tells us a lot about the nature of Swati.
Cartoon Depiction of Wind |
Out of all three of the Nakshatras in Libra, Swati is the most like Libra. That is because its degrees are contained completely in the sign of Libra. So, these are the true balance-strikers of the Zodiac. Swati individuals are very kind and gentle in nature. Their biggest challenge is in being too nice and not standing up for themselves. They have a strong focus on justice and standing up for the needs of others. Many feel inspired by the encouragement and support of Swati. These individuals have a way with words that makes others feel better and stronger about themselves. They do this by manipulating energy and vibration like the shifting of the wind. Many people are actually unaware of how much power Swati has because it's very subtle and involves easily adapting to others in a submissive way. This is also why Swati is said to have "the Power to Scatter Like the Wind". Due to being sensitive to other people's energies and receptive to the energy of the space that they're in. That can also be done by asking people questions to get others to talk and reveal more. Yet, the Swati individual will remain completely passive, agreeable, and encouraging. A tactic that hypnotically gets others to do most of the talking in the conversation. This manipulation of energy allows them to seem independent, while technically being always involved with others.
Depiction of Being Receptive |
However, they tend to face their own difficulties in life. Life for them will be very difficult. Especially in the earlier years of life. These are individuals that keep getting knocked off balance. That's because their ultimate lesson in life is to create balance and stability. Many in this position will find themselves experiencing intense emotions and unexpected changes. Just like the symbol of the young plant that has to flourish under the pressure of harsh winds.
Depiction of a Tree in the Wind |
As Swati individuals mature in life, they find their true power and are able to stand on their own. Hence, they are independent or the self-goers of the Zodiac. Their journey keeps challenging them to take charge of their own lives and to realize the strength that they possess. This is something that Swati people will develop through their experiences and life lessons. When they do, they can become famous, wealthy, and influential. Swati sometimes doubts themselves only to find that they possess incredible untapped potential. This is because they tend to focus on others more than themselves. Yet, this Nakshatra indicates that the true power of Swati is found within. That can also be seen by another symbol of Swati that is rarely talked about. The red coral that rises from the depths of the ocean floor depicts this rise of power from within. In Western Tropical Astrology, it's also symbolized by the phoenix rising from the ashes.
Depiction of a Phoenix |
Part of these sudden changes that Swati experience is due to the influence of Rahu. If you haven't already, feel free to check out my blog post on Secrets of Rahu (North Node).
To keep it brief, Rahu is a futuristic and unconventional planet. His nature is unpredictable and he is the most clever of all of the planets. He takes us towards achieving our largest dreams in life and into situations that are out of our comfort zone. However, the shadow side of Rahu is the endless hunger for material gains and the diseases created through this deception that he wraps us up in. This is why Rahu is considered to be the representation of the Maya (illusion of the material world) and is referred to as a demonic shadow entity.
Depiction of Rahu |
So, Rahu influences the deep psychological changes and the unexpected events found in the Nakshatra of Swati. Along with this, Rahu gifts exceptional intelligence to these individuals. Rahu is the most clever and strategic. He can think in futuristic ways and find cunning ways to get to where he wants to be. So, Swati is known for those who have complex and innovative minds. They're always thinking "outside of the box" and have unique ways of seeing the world.
This intelligence also has to do with the connection to the deity of Saraswati. Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge, learning, music, art, speech, literature, and wisdom. So, those who are born under Swati have a love of learning. They might be well versed in a variety of subjects and philosophical topics. Swati individuals also tend to have very concise speech. They articulate very well and make excellent writers. Along with usually possessing an artistic, musical, and/or some other form of creative talent. They also tend to give good advice and insight to others. Swati is such a cultural and high-minded sign.
Depiction of Saraswati |
Their intelligence is usually very noticeable to others and many people might feel inclined to ask them for some insight. For this reason, Swati is a sign that works well with others. They are very gentle people and are easy to get along with. However, they can also be vengeful and justice-seeking at times. Especially when someone has wronged them or a loved one. This can surprise others due to them being fairly well-mannered and even-tempered for the majority of the time. Swati is definitely very considerate of others and highly adaptable due to the windy energy in this Nakshatra.
Despite Swati being very calm and serene with others, their mind can be very chaotic at times. They struggle with feeling profoundly deep emotions and being easily hurt by others. Most of the time, their peaceful and intellectual demeanor can hide their true feelings. Some might think that they don't feel much. As they can have a bit of "a poker face" or can display very little for others to see. Rahu's influence definitely makes these individuals very complex for others to understand at times. Rahu is a very mysterious and unpredictable planet.
A Universe Within the Eyes |
The most attractive feature of Swati tends to be the eyes. With most Rahu Nakshatras, the eyes are very beautiful, deep, wide, and receptive. This applies even if the eyes are darker in color. However, Rahu does tend to lean towards the color blue, depending on genetics and ethnicity. One of the features of Swati is intense eye contact that can either magnetically pull others in or intimidate others. Swati individuals might find that others can feel them when they're looking. The energy of their gaze is so magnetic and powerful. It is often used to penetrate the minds of others and to create sex appeal. There is some kind of subtle language that's spoken with the eyes of Swati.
Although Swati is an excellent communicator and does well with interacting with others, they tend to prefer their privacy. Sometimes they can even restrict themselves from society and become antisocial. They are excellent at observing others and understanding human behavior. This tends to make Swati individuals hyper-focused on other people's reactions and how they will be perceived in a social setting. It also means that they tend to pick up on details that others miss and can figure out the hidden agendas of those around them. No one is better at identifying and categorizing behavior. Once again, this is in Libra (the sign of relationships and other people).
Depiction of Vayu |
The wind in this Nakshatra also relates to prana. Prana is a Sanskrit word for "breath". Also known as the life force energy that permeates from the body. This refers to the power that these individuals possess within. Many people born under Swati have their own rich inner world. It is said that the power of the world is projected out from within them. Sometimes, they can even make up their own world and share it with others. Also referring back to it being independent or the self-goer. They take their independent world and use prana to breathe it into existence. For this reason, their intelligence and innovation can go into many creative works. They can make great fiction and fantasy writers. Taking you deep into a profound world of their own making. This can also refer to how convincing and charming Swati can be. They can make people believe in anything that they say. It's a gift that can be used for good or bad.
This independent world of Swati has a lot to do with the combination of Venus and Rahu. Swati is highly creative and innovative due to Venus being such a creative planet and Rahu continuing to devour more Maya (material illusion) without limitation. So, Swati can get lost in their own world or can get lost in other worlds. They are fascinated by alternate realities, traveling, and foreign concepts. Always looking to find out the mysteries beyond this world. Swati individuals can also have incredible "out-of-body" experiences and can experience lucid dreaming because of this. Their experience on the astral plane is vivid and profound. The illusionary factor of Rahu makes them love to indulge in anything pleasurable or that gives a sensory experience. They love beauty and experiencing life through the five physical senses. So, overindulgence should be avoided. However, alcohol isn't likely to intrigue them much because Rahu doesn't want to lose control of the physical world. Remember that Rahu wraps himself around the Maya.
